About UnitFormula
A technical calculator platform built for everyday users, engineers, tradespeople, and anyone who needs fast, accurate answers.
What this is
UnitFormula started as a unit conversion site. In 2026 it became a broader technical utility platform. Today it covers:
- Unit conversions across 12 categories — length, weight, temperature, pressure, volume, torque, energy, power, speed, data, force, and area
- Engineering calculators for flow rate, pipe volume, horsepower, fuel economy, and related problems
- Construction calculators for concrete volume, density, and percentage change
- Electrical calculators for Ohm's law and voltage drop
- Reference guides explaining unit definitions, conversion formulas, and common pitfalls
Why we built it this way
Most conversion tools give you a result without explaining why. That's fine for a quick lookup, but it doesn't help you catch errors or understand the answer in context.
Every pair page on this site includes the formula, a worked example, a reference table, unit definitions, and an FAQ. Every calculator includes its methodology and assumptions. Ambiguous units — like the US gallon vs the imperial gallon, or tonne vs short ton — are explicitly flagged instead of silently resolved.
Accuracy
Conversion factors are sourced from NIST, SI standards, and ISO publications. Where an exact definition exists (1 inch = 25.4 mm exactly), the exact value is used. Read the full methodology page for details on how constants are stored, how temperature conversions work, and how result formatting is handled.
