How it works

Finding the date halfway between two dates takes three steps:

1. Count the days between the two dates.
2. Halve that number.
3. Add the result to the earlier date.

For January 1 to December 31, 2026 there are 364 days between the dates. Half of 364 is 182, and January 1 plus 182 days is July 2, 2026 — the midpoint. The order of the two dates does not matter, since the calculator always measures from the earlier one.

When the gap is an odd number of days, the exact middle falls between two days, so the calculator rounds to the nearer whole day. The days on each side output shows how the span splits — equal halves for an even gap, off by one day for an odd gap.

This is handy for finding a halfway anniversary, the middle of a project, a fair meeting point in time, or a "half-birthday" between two dates.

Take January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. The days between them total 364. Half of that is 182 days, and adding 182 days to January 1 gives Jul 2, 2026 — the exact midpoint of the year.
